Transportation Workers are workers in the
transportation industry whose work:
Airline pilots and
flight attendants qualify for the tax write-offs associated with working as
a transportation worker. Specifically, airline pilots and flight
attendants qualify for a higher
meal expense allowance than the general public does. The higher
meal allowance for transportation workers is
described and calculated on
IRS Form 2106.
Additionally, IRS
Publication 463 lists the tax rules for
transportation workers. Transportation workers who fall under
DOT rules,
such as airline pilots and flight attendants,
are eligible to use the
special rate
for transportation workers if they so wish.
EZPERDIEM.COM allows
pilots and flight attendants to simply enter
their layovers into a simple form so that all
of the per diem rates
are pulled and used as an
M&IE allowance as appropriate for a transportation worker.
Other aviation
workers that may be considered to be
transportation workers are dispatchers, mechanics, and control tower
operators who are under Federal Aviation Administration regulations.
